Taco Bell’s New Chocolate Empanadas + Full April Menu Breakdown

Taco Bell announced its biggest menu expansion in years at its Live Mas Live 2026 event, with 15 or more new items rolling out across the year. The April additions include dessert empanadas in two flavors, a new Crunchwrap Slider, Salted Caramel Churros, and a revamped value tier now called the Luxe Value Menu. We tried everything that’s currently available. Here’s what holds up.
The Dessert Empanadas
Chocolate Fudge Empanada
Warm, flaky, and genuinely chocolatey. The fudge filling is richer than expected from a fast food item, it’s not the watered-down chocolate you’d fear. The crispy exterior holds up well. This is the better of the two empanadas. Get it warm, not after it’s been sitting.
Salted Caramel Empanada
Good, but the caramel is a bit one-note without enough salt to back up the name. Still worth trying. Pairs well with their freeze drinks if you want a full dessert situation.
New Luxe Value Menu, What’s Worth It
- Mini Taco Salad ($2.49): Solid. The tiny crispy bowl is a flex for $2.49.
- Beefy Potato Loaded Griller ($2.49): The best value item on the entire menu, period. Crispy potatoes + nacho cheese sauce in a grilled tortilla is a perfect combination.
- Chips & Nacho Supreme Dip ($2.49): Fun as a shareable. The layering is mostly visual but it’s actually good.
- Salted Caramel Churros ($1.99): Underpriced. Better than the empanada for the money.
What to Order This Month
If you only get one thing: Beefy Potato Loaded Griller. If you’re getting dessert: Chocolate Fudge Empanada, warm. Skip the Salted Caramel Empanada on this trip, the churros are better and cheaper.
