Chipotle Is Giving Away Free Chips and Guacamole for Cinco de Mayo
Free guacamole. No catch. Chipotle just made Cinco de Mayo plans a lot easier.
On May 5, 2026, Chipotle is handing out free Chips and Guacamole or free Chips and Queso Blanco to any digital customer who places an order through the Chipotle app or Chipotle.com. All you need is the promo code CINCO26 at checkout when you buy a full-priced entree.
The deal is live for one day only, so if you’ve been waiting for a reason to finally download the app, this is it.
What You’re Getting
You get your choice of one free regular-size side: either Chips and Guacamole or Chips and Queso Blanco. Both are fan staples, and both are made with zero artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, which Chipotle loves to remind you about.
The guac is hand-mashed daily from Hass avocados, red onion, jalapeno, cilantro, citrus juice and salt. Six ingredients, nothing else. The Queso Blanco uses 13 real ingredients including aged Monterey Jack, white cheddar and a blend of serrano, poblano and chipotle peppers. It’s a genuinely good queso, not the gluey, processed stuff you get at other chains.
Chips are made fresh in-house from corn masa flour, fried and dusted with salt and a squeeze of lime. Simple, but they hit every time.
How to Claim It
- Order through the Chipotle app or Chipotle.com (not third-party delivery)
- Add a full-priced entree to your cart
- Enter code CINCO26 at checkout
- Choose your free side: Chips and Guac or Chips and Queso Blanco
- Order must be placed on May 5, 2026 only
The offer does not stack with other coupons or promotions, and it is not valid on catering or kids meals. One redemption per transaction.
The Bigger Picture: Chipotle Is on a Run Right Now
This promo lands right off the back of Chipotle’s Q1 2026 earnings, which showed positive transaction growth for the first time in several quarters. The chain’s High Protein Menu, launched in December 2025, drove nearly one in four transactions to include a protein add-on. Double protein orders jumped by double digits and have stayed elevated through April.
CEO Scott Boatwright credited the momentum to a sharper focus on menu innovation, saying consumers were “screaming for greater innovation at a greater frequency.” The Cinco de Mayo promo fits that playbook, keeping customers engaged with limited-time deals between bigger menu launches.
Also dropping from Chipotle: free burritos for teachers and healthcare workers during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8) and National Nurses Week (May 6-12). Up to 100,000 teachers and 100,000 healthcare workers will be randomly selected and verified for that giveaway.
Worth It?
Free chips and guac at Chipotle is not a small deal. That side normally runs $3.15 to $3.95 depending on location. If you were already planning a Chipotle run on May 5, the code basically pays for itself. If you weren’t, the Queso Blanco alone might be worth making the trip.
The code is CINCO26. May 5 only. App or website orders only. Don’t sleep on it.
